• Raised and educated in Northern Virginia
Four children (ages 28 to 36) and eight grandchildren (ages 2 to 14)
Married Becky in July 1987 - Celebrating 25 years!

• Graduated Hargrave Military Academy, Chatham, Virginia 1966
• Attended Virginia Polytechnic Institute
Graduated US Army Infantry Officers' Candidate School, Ft. Benning, Georgia April, 1969. Received   diploma and Commission as 2nd Lieutenant in the US Army
Graduated Leadership Maryland 2003
Graduated The Academy for Excellence in Local Governance 2003. Received Municipal   Government Certification

Professional

• Proudly served in the US Army from 1968 until 1971
     - Training (including OCS) until 1969
     - Served as Executive Officer in a Basic Training Company at Ft. Jackson, South Carolina last        half of 1969
     - Served as a Batallion Training Advisor at the Army of the Republic of Vietnam Infantry Officer        Candidate School in Thu Duc, Vietnam from December 1969 until April 1970
     - Promoted to First Lieutenant in April 1970
     - Served as Detachment Commander, American Forces Vietnam Network (AFVN) in Pleiku,        Vietnam from April 1970 until January 1971. See http://www.afvn.tv
     - Completed military commitment on January 15, 1971
National Public Radio
     - Became the 18th person ever hired by NPR. Started March 1, 1971, two months before the        debut of All Things Considered
     - Progressed through a number of engineering management positions until I left to start my own        business in November 1984.
The Chesapeake Computer Group, Incorporated
     - Founded the company in 1983 to provide software solutions for the major radio networks
     - Some of our clients were:

       Sirius Satellite Radio

     - Rejoined NPR in 2003
     - Current position is Senior Solutions Architect in the Distribution Division
